CREATIVITY LOST

As a child I loved drawing and painting, my imagination was endless and I was thrilled by a piece of paper and a crayon. As I grew older I replaced the crayon for dancing, through which I was able to express myself with my body, finding creative fulfillment through movement. I no longer dance on a regular basis and if you placed a sheet of paper and a crayon in front of me, I wouldn’t get past doodles of hearts and stars. I miss that wild imagination of my childhood. I miss my ability to get lost in an art project, forgetting about my phone, email or the passing of time. I miss just being in that moment. How do I get that back? How do I get that back?

Dear friend,

This is an important and meaningful question. I can relate, as I have been on my own journey of reclaiming myself as an artist, by remembering that I have always been one.

Creativity is present, even when dormant, and it is waiting to meet you again.

You just have to make a sacred space for it.

Without distractions or even expectations.

Sit with yourself and your materials daily - it can be brief, 3 minutes is profound. Just as with meditation, a little bit every day is more beneficial than practicing a long time one day with nothing for the rest of the days.

Nourish yourself each day with your expression.

Let it be a simple commitment of meeting yourself where you are at now, and if that is doodling hearts and stars, do that, keep doing just that until it morphs into something else, then something else.

Show up for your creativity consistently, and your creativity will show up for you, and as you do so - you will evolve and your creativity will do the same.

I can't wait to see what you create!
